Senior Process Engineer
A large-scale chemical production facility in the La Porte, Texas area is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to support critical plant operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with a strong foundation in chemical processes, safety compliance, and troubleshooting. You’ll serve as a key technical leader within the operations team, driving performance improvements and ensuring regulatory adherence in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Key Functions
- Oversee daily operations for assigned process units with a focus on safety, environmental compliance, and production efficiency.
- Perform data analysis and performance reviews to identify bottlenecks and drive unit optimization strategies.
- Collaborate with maintenance and project teams to coordinate preventive and corrective actions, including capital upgrades and new system installations.
- Maintain up-to-date process documentation, safety records, and technical drawings in compliance with internal and external standards.
- Provide frontline troubleshooting and technical support to operators and engineering peers.
- Participate in emergency response activities, including confined space entry, hazardous material response, and fire brigade duties.
- Lead or support commissioning of new systems, equipment, or product lines as needed.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (required).
- 8+ years of experience in a chemical manufacturing setting, preferably with unit operations under PSM/RMP regulations.
- In-depth technical understanding of distillation, reaction engineering, heat/mass transfer, and plant utility systems.
- Demonstrated success leading projects or process improvements with measurable cost or performance impact.
- Familiarity with CMMS or ERP platforms like SAP, Maximo, Oracle, etc.
- Skilled in interpreting P&IDs, engineering drawings, and safety documentation.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence both technical and operations personnel.
- Committed to maintaining a safe work environment in hazardous chemical process settings.
Preferred Background
- Experience with process hazard analysis (PHA), management of change (MOC), and pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR).
- Proven record of improving raw material efficiency, uptime, and cost control.
- Comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a high-throughput production environment.
