Key Responsibilities

  • Design and document audio signal paths, control circuits, and integrated AV systems for on-site projects.
  • Conduct pre-installation assessments, including on-site evaluations, to determine system requirements and prepare detailed project quotes.
  • Manage incoming AV support tickets, diagnose technical issues, and provide resolutions with follow-up communication via phone and email.
  • Handle installation and maintenance of digital recording systems, video conferencing setups, and security/surveillance AV components.
  • Travel to client sites (10-25% annually) for installations, system evaluations, and issue resolution.
  • Compile detailed AV equipment lists for cost estimates, new builds, and troubleshooting needs.
  • Test, research, and recommend new AV technologies (e.g., DSPs, microphones, video distribution, presentation systems).
  • Deliver customized audio and video solutions for existing and new clients.

Technical Expertise & Skills

  • Experience with AV control platforms (Crestron, Extron, AMX); programming knowledge is a significant advantage.
  • Strong background in video distribution for presentations, especially in courtroom or large meeting settings.
  • Proficiency with video conferencing systems (Polycom, ClearOne, etc.) and their integrations.
  • Solid understanding of signal flow and the ability to program DSPs (BSS, Symetrix, Lectrosonics, ClearOne).
  • Skilled in rack assembly, wiring, and cable termination following industry standards (XLR, ¼-inch, BNC, CAT5E).
  • Hands-on experience with PA system setup, room balancing, and acoustic adjustments.
  • Familiarity with single and multi-channel video input/output configurations.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals for AV system integration.
  • Certifications like CTS, CTS-I/D, or DMC-E are preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with digital audio transport protocols like Dante is a plus.

Other Requirements

  • Willingness to travel (primarily within New Jersey, with occasional trips to Canada, Bermuda, and Europe).
  • Must pass a background check (no felonies) and be eligible to obtain a valid passport.
